Cheeky Artist Upstages Banksy

The Bristol Evening Post has done a great article on 'Typo' and the museum. If you pick up a copy, it's on page 4 (at least in the edition we get down here).

A message from Mclevey's management team:

RE: Recent acquisition at Bristol Museum
Dear Sir and/or Madam,

I am writing to inform you that your newest acquisition is a piece
entitled 'Typo'. The 24" x 36" canvas, depicting a monkey chained to a
typewriter, is a painting by Mclevey. Dating from 2008, it was done in
acrylic, enamel, and ink.

We do sincerely hope you and your patrons enjoy this piece, and we
thank you for the careful mounting you have provided. While caged
monkeys make wonderful painters, they are rather poor at handling any
kind of security.

Should you have any questions regarding the piece or the artist,
please feel free to contact me at jen -at- mclevey.com or by phone on
07XXX XXX XXX.

Best wishes,

Jen Barnett

Missing in action

As of 4pm yesterday (13 June 2009), the Mclevey canvas 'Typo' is missing in action. Any sightings of this piece should be promptly reported to museum@mclevey.com

It was last seen near a painting monkey, who seemed to take a shine for the subject of the piece.

People are warned that animatronic monkeys, especially those with paintbrushes, have been known to cause serious damage to the kidneys. As such, it is recommended that you leave only footprints and take only photos.
