Computers and donkeys, oh my!

Two quick updates...

1. The computer release images are slowly being leaked over on Facebook and Flickr, and we might make a change of the sale rules (we're allowed to do such things) and post a handful of the images later in the week.

2. For those in Weston-super-Mare, be on the lookout (at some point in the future) for a Mclevey-painted life size donkey statue. There will be 40 'decorated ass statues' (how the Mercury put it!) around town, and one of them will be a Mclevey.

Open to the public

For the first time yet, there are a few pieces from one of the monthly releases availble to the public.

(The image above is a teaser, and already sold, but gives you an idea of what some of the pieces in this release are like.)

Big new pieces

At the end of last year, three big (4 foot by 6 foot) pieces were commissioned for one of Bristol University's residence halls. They're all framed and mounted now.

If you want to see the real things, or buy them (all three are for sale), let us know and we'll shoot you the details of how to do all that.

New piece: One Hundred Caps

In a few hours

In a few hours, the second of the three January emails will be going out to the VIPs. Not a VIP yet? No problem... just go here and sign up.

This next release is a requiring some logistics manipulation... Everything isn't as it seems, and almost nothing is easily packed neat and flat. It is all exciting and new, and Mr Mclevey is having loads of fun makey the arty on this batch of 12 grab bag items.

I suppose we should give the details of it all, just for the record. Here's how the monthly grab bags work (using January as an example)...

12 grab bags released, broken down to three different box sizes. Inside each box could be anything that's coming out of Mclevey HQ. There might be a canvas or two in the mix, there might be some experimental 3D things, there might be some pimped out knick-knacks, there might be pages from sketchbooks, there might be hand painted shirts, there might be all sorts of things (maybe even something like that bottle up there). It'll all be art, and it'll all have COAs (gotta include the boring bits that I get to use a spreadsheet for!).

So then... VIPs, on the lookout!

January Canvas Release

Last week the January canvases were released and they sold out fast. Above is a sneak preview of one of the smaller canvases.

A few things brewing

Just a quick check in here...

1. Some huge pieces finished last week, which will be all public and such next week. Here's a small preview section of one of them...


2. Cards almost all sent out after a bunch of delays. Last few orders should be going out during the week. Pretty sure the local posties are sick of seeing envelopes like these...


3. About the grab bags that'll be released this week... They're kind of in the same spirit as the special 100s prizes that went out with four of the card orders. Each grab bag will contain special items. Some will be MCL-ish stuff, some might be a Mclevey canvas. In addition to extra art, here are some of the extras that went to the 200th, 300th, and 400th orders...

4. Making arrangements for a few really exciting shows this year. Keep your eyes peeled for clues.

Snow delays

Well, the snow has stopped falling for a little bit, but things down here at Mclevey HQ have been a bit delayed.

To make sure nothing gets lost in an icy box of uncollected post, we're holding all shipments (cards, canvases, etc.) until things are fully back to normal. Hopefully this'll be Monday, but if the snow comes this weekend, it might be a few days after that.

In the meantime, we're all busy keeping things going so as soon as things thaw out, there's going to be some good stuff coming into the world.

Hope everyone had a good holiday... There was very little rest for the wicked at Mclevey HQ. Adam's still painting cards, so if you haven't gotten yours yet you should be getting it soon. We didn't expect quite the response we got.... Apologies for the delay in getting some of the December orders out.

Secret Sale

Yesterday at 12:21, an email was sent out to our VIP list announcing a secret sale involving the release of 8 canvases. The last one sold at 13:21.

The idea was to go public with this link today, but it seems a bit odd to direct people to a page that just says 'SOLD OUT' where there used to be PayPal sales buttons.

It does give you a bit of a hint about what's coming in January, and an incentive to sign up to the VIP list (you can do that here if you haven't already). As with this release, the VIP list will get a one-day head start on every new release.

The end of One Pound, One Stamp

Thanks to all who have ordered. Cards will be sent out in the order they were ordered. It's currently about a two-week turnaround. If you need to know when your cards will be going out, email jen@mclevey.com

In the meantime, we're going on a holiday break around here (sorta), taking a bit of time to catch up on some work and fun. Mostly work.

The End is Near!!!

Hear ye, hear ye and all that... The last day you'll be able to order One Pound, One Stamp cards will be this Friday, 18 December 2009

On the 19th, the whole card thing will be going on a two-week (and two day) hiatus while Mclevey HQ plays host to friends and family (and catches up with a huge backlog of artistic and administrative work).

On 4 January 2010, there will be a few new items up in the spirit of the new year, or something like that. Regardless, check back here on 4 January to be the first to get in on the new fun.

300

Yesterday we topped 300 in the One Pound, One Stamp cards (if you've ordered, please check the page for an important announcement about shipping).

We've also decided that there's going to be an announcement about the future of the cards in the next few days. Come back tomorrow and have a look for that and (hopefully) some photos from the Weapon of Choice opening.

Another show this month

In addition to the shows mentioned earlier, there's one more coming up. This one's over at Weapon of Choice Gallery. The openings are always great fun, and this time you can take paintings away at the time of purchase in a whole advent calendar type of thing.

The One Pound, One Stamp cards are also nearing another landmark and, very possibly, the end of the run. Not making any announcements yet, but just keep in mind that they aren't going to be offered forever so get in there now while the getting's possible.

Shows on this weekend

Just realised I've got a bunch of shows on this month. They start tonight, so go check out all of these if you get the chance.

If you can't make it out, there are always One Pound, One Stamp cards available for purchase, and a new edition of the sales catalog will be coming out soon with some extra affordable art in the mix, so keep checking back.

200th card order special prize

The One Pound, One Stamp card orders are nearing 200, and will probably surpass that mark this weekend.

Like we did for the 100th card, this landmark number will come with a prize. This time it'll be in the form of a gift box full of goodies. Because of the nature of some of the goodies, the purchaser of the 200th card will need to confirm their age. Contents will depend on the legalities for the location of the purchaser... Not going to give any more info than that, though!

Another card update

A quick update on the One Pound, One Stamp cards... Because of the huge number of orders that came in over a few days last week, the shipping time is going to be almost two weeks for some folks. Doing what we can here to make sure they get out fast, but without skimping on quality control.

We're also making plans for another special giveaway, but this time you'll get to see it first. This will be the ONLY time a purchaser will actually know what they're getting ahead of time! Of course, it'll be down to luck to be the correct number...

More cards coming...

Another batch of One Pound, One Stamp cards went out yesterday, and hopefully another batch will go out tomorrow.

We've been moving Mclevey HQ this past week, so there's a bit of a delay. Still filling most orders in a week, but a bunch have come in so it might stretch to a week and a half. They'll all go out, and in the order they've been purchased.

Still having a lot of fun with this project, and am thankful for all the responses (and orders) I've gotten.

Also, congratulations to Cleo, who purchased the 100th card and gets a small canvas. Already making some plans for another prize giveaway for number 150, but will announce that in a different post.

Driftwood @The Golden Lion

In between painting hotel walls, derelict open-air pools, and giant banners, I've been getting work together for this solo show at The Golden Lion.

It's all new work, and is all fine art stuff, but with a different edge. All the pieces will be priced pretty low, so bring some cash.

I'll be there for the opening night, and the work will be on display for four weeks. The Golden Lion is a great pub, so well worth going to for a pint and a look at what I've been working on.

Big Banner at Bristol University

This piece is about 30 feet tall, and is now hanging from the side of the Bristol University Students Union building on Queens Road. If you're around, go check it out... The pictures don't do it justice.

This was a joint project between the UBU and Upfest, and will only be up for a short time. There's also some big banners by FAKE and SPQR, and some more painting inside the SU bar (Bar 100).

Newquay and new work

Been away from the site for a few weeks, but all for good reasons. In between working on loads of new work for a show in September, I've done some live painting down at Boardmasters in Newquay.

Will upload some more photos soon, but here's a few to get an idea of the place...

Back in the studio, I'm playing with some new techniques and materials. The pieces might be released as Mclevey canvasses, or they might be released as an MCL or even some other new brand type thing. Who knows...
